Tuberculosis is a very severe infectious disease which mostly affects the lungs. A bacterium, namely, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is the reason behind TB. When TB goes undetected, it may also affect other parts of the body including brain, spinal cord and kidneys. It is a contagious disease which can easily spread from one person to another as they sneeze or cough in the form of tiny droplets, through the air. Treatment of TB is linked to the kind of TB infection. It generally requires treatments with anti-TB drugs for few months under physician’s inspection.
Yoga is a defensive science that does not claim to heal TB. Yoga does aid in the healing processes with the prescribed medications. One must check with the physician prior practicing Yoga.
Yogendra Kapalabhati; the Purification Breath
This yoga asana has immense benefits. The entire facial region gets energized and purified. Kapala means the entire face, particularly the forehead or the frontal lobe. And ‘Bhati’ means ‘shining’. Regular practice of this kriya brings a radiance and glow to the face! This asana has been distinctively modified, wherein stomach’s energetic movement is not practised. It makes quite beneficial to the one performing regularly with routine.
Pranayama-Bhastrika; Bellows Breath
Pranayama-Bhastrika has favorable effect on the digestive and respiratory system. It helps drain excess phlegm from the lungs. This kriya oxygenates the blood, thus increasing the energy of the tissues and organs. It not only strengthens and tones up the abdominal region but also calms up the mind and energizes the entire body and mind.
