Fistula is a medical name given to an abnormal channel which links two cavities of the body, such as, rectum and vagina. One major reason behind the formation of fistula is abscess. It is a pouch of pus in any part of the body that constantly gets filled up with one’s own body fluids like urine or excreta. Constant wetting and dampening hinders the curing process. Generally fistulas occur around the anus and genitals region. Thus an anal fistula would be an unusual tunnel between anus and genitals.
